I envy those who are talented in film-making or those who obviously have the common sense in it once he/she picks up the camera and starts rolling. Not that I do not know how to, I am just not talented and my role is confined to the directing side of the whole deal. Working in an ad agency as a conceptualizer of advertisements and marketing ads, I know that the creative side is everything.
I'm not a complete loser on this. I once made a photo essay just to demonstrate how our next project should look like and they were all grinning. Apparently, my team liked my presentation and the principles I used could well be used in filming, not just in presentations. They said that if I took a crash course on film-making and editing, I could quickly become a professional. They even joked, saying I should not take lessons (if that's the case) or they might lose their jobs. I'm already comfortable with my role in this career as I'm targeting a managerial position someday. I just want to learn it properly for personal use. And this industry has already taught me a lot.
